KDFWR, DOE & UK to Launch New Environmental Education Website

The media is encouraged to join the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, Department of Education and the University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension Service/4-H, College of Agriculture, and the Tracy Farmer Center for the Environment in launching a new, educational website about Kentucky’s Environment.

The All Wild About Kentucky’s Environment (AWAKE) website will be made operational following a special “kick-off” ceremony Friday, November 7 at the UK Singletary Center for the Arts at 12 noon. The “Launch” will immediately follow the Jeff Corwin lecture session and last approximately 30 minutes. Additional activities will include live animal presentations on birds of prey, reptiles and snakes. The entire event is expected to conclude at approximately 1:30 p.m.

There will be students and speakers involved in introducing the AWAKE site for educators and the public to use as a resource to learn more about Kentucky’s wildlife species, their habitats and behaviors.

A media-relations opportunity regarding the AWAKE website will be offered immediately following the Jeff Corwin interview session at 10:15 a.m. These opportunities will occur in the President’s Room at the Singletary Center for the Arts.

For more information about this event, media is encouraged to preview the AWAKE website at www.KentuckyAWAKE.org, and contact Laura Lang, KDFWR Education Administrator, at (800) 852-0942.464 weekdays 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for details.
