APPLYING FOR STATE EMPLOYMENT

http://personnel.ky.gov and follow the
instructions below.

Access to the internet
and an e-mail account is required. Instructions to create a free e-mail
account are provided on the web page.

Have your education and
job history information available in order to assist in the completion of
your application. Please allow approximately 1-2 hours for the initial
process. An on-line tutorial is available to walk you through the
application process. In addition, there are HELP links on every section.

You must self
nominate (apply) to each POSTED job that you are interested in upon
completing your application.
Upon entering into the
Personnel Cabinet website, you may click on Job Seekers which will lead you to
the Career Opportunities System (COS) page. You may then choose State Job
Opportunities. At this point, you will perform the following steps:

Locate the gray shaded
box on the right of the screen and click the click here to create a new
account link.

Read the Terms of
Agreement and click the AGREE button.

On the Create login
page, enter your e-mail address, choose and enter a password, reenter
the password for verification, select a security question from the drop-down
list, and enter the answer to your security question.

Click the create button.
-
You will be taken to the
Welcome page.
-
Scroll down and click on
the Edit your profile link.
-
Complete the Contact
information page [required fields are labeled with an asterisk (*)]
If you skip a required field, COS will alert you and prompt you to fill in
any missed fields before you can save your application.

Click the SAVE
button.

You will be taken to the
application and prompted to fill in your social security number. Click the
OK button and begin to fill in your application. When the
application is complete, you will be ready to search and apply to any jobs
in which you are interested.

This tool allows a Personnel Cabinet customer service representative to help
you find the information you need.

The Personnel Cabinet
has 20 computers available for you to apply on-line.

You may choose criteria
such as job title, salary, agency, and county and ask to be notified by
e-mail when vacant positions match your preferences.

Once you have applied
for a job and received confirmation, you may review your progress through
the job submission status.

Be detailed and complete
all fields on the application.
-
Keep your contact
information updated within your application file as this is the information
an agency will use to contact you in the event of an interview.

Each applicant must
create an account with an individual e-mail, which is their unique
identifier.
