Dealing With Deer Damage Issues

Damage to various agriculture, ornamental, and forestry plantings caused by deer feeding, trampling, and rubbing is an increasing problem in some Kentucky counties.  This webpage is a compilation of online information on how to deal with deer damage issues.

Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources encourage landowners who are experiencing problems to employ multiple techniques to achieve the best results.  Below are some methods that are recommended to deal with these issues.

         Lethal Techniques

The most efficient, cost-effective, long-term way to control deer damage is by controlled hunting.  The more hunting pressure that is put on the deer, the less of a problem you will experience.  Allowing multiple hunters to hunt both bucks and does for the entire hunting season will achieve the best results.

If you enjoy deer hunting but have limited freezer space or do not like the taste of venison, we encourage you to donate your deer to hunters for the hungry.
