What are GIF and PDF?
GIF (Graphics Interchange Format) is commonly used to display indexed color graphics and images in HTML files over the Web and other online services. GIF is a compressed format that is designed to minimize file transfer time over phone lines. Color changes and loss of detail in large files are likely, due to GIF compression.

JPEG (Joint Photographic Experts Group) compresses graphics of photographic colors and is designed to minimize file transfer time over slower internet connections. JPG images support 16 million colors and are best suited for photographs and complex graphics.

PDF (Portable Document Format) is used by Adobe Acrobat and can be viewed using the free Acrobat Reader software. Based on the PostScript Level 2 language, PDF can represent both vector and bitmap images and can also include hyper-links. PDF files are usually larger than GIF files and may include more accurate image quality. Download Acrobat Reader
