The KDFWR continually maps the geographic
distribution of wild pigs in the Commonwealth, while relying heavily on
cooperation from landowners and hunters. In conjunction with those tasks, the
KDFWR also has implemented response measures, regional control efforts,
increased public education, and statewide cooperative disease surveillance
protocols. The Wildlife Division has also created a Wild Swine Task Force to
address the relatively recent expansion of pigs across the Commonwealth. The
team is composed of state, federal and private stake holders with vested
interests in management efforts and regulatory considerations associated with
wild swine in Kentucky.
