State Wildlife Grant Program Update
KDFWR Partners and
Potential Partners,
After much discussion and deliberation, the
State Wildlife Grant (SWG) committee of KDFWR has changed the SWG competitive
granting process. There are two major changes that have occurred:
1)
We will no longer issue a request
for proposals (RFP) as we have in the past. Instead, we will fund projects
through the various species programs of KDFWR. For example, if you have a
project you feel is high-priority, you should directly contact the lead
biologist for the taxonomic group of interest (see below list; if you are unsure
of who to contact, feel free to call me). The KDFWR biologist will then decide
if your project is a priority and, if so, will work directly with you to submit
a grant proposal internally.
2)
If you have a project that is not
tied to a species group (e.g. land acquisition, large scale habitat
restoration), we will accept requests from outside entities made directly to the
agency. These projects will continue to be considered by the SWG Committee; no
specific deadline applies.
Thank you for your past
and present support and partnership. We will issue a website update with more
details about these changes within the next few weeks. Please do not hesitate
to contact me with any questions, concerns, or pressing project needs,
Sincerely,
Danna Baxley
