Email:

Project Partners:  List all organizations who will be involved with the project.

SWG Funding Request: List the total amount of federal funds requested.

Project Summary (<300 words): Provide a brief summary of the purpose, justification,

expected results, benefits, and general approach intended to complete the project.

Problem and Need (<500 words):

Describe the purpose of the project and the importance to Kentucky’s wildlife conservation needs. What problem(s) will be addressed? Be sure to include a brief discussion of any relevant literature. Describe any implications if this project is not funded.

Objectives:  What will be accomplished pursuant to the stated need? Each objective

should be stated separately, specify what is to be accomplished within the constraints of

the budget, time, and staffing requested, and be quantifiable or verifiable. If this is a

multi-year project, please state what objectives will be undertaken during each year of

the project. In addition, there should be a page reference to the action item or need in

Kentucky’s WAP that each objective is addressing.

Example:

Objective 1: Restore and protect unique microhabitats (e.g. install cave gates) to prevent

or minimize disturbance to bat species of conservation need. SWAP:

Appendix 3.3, Priority Conservation Action #182.

Approach:  Describe how the project will be carried out, objectives

obtained and how it will benefit species or habitat conservation efforts. Include specific

procedures and key personnel and cooperators. Include how the project’s success will

be evaluated. If handling species of special concern, state how this procedure may

impact populations and expected mortalities (refer to relevant literature). (750 word limit).

Species of Conservation Priority: List all Species of Greatest Conservation Need (SGCN) benefiting from this project. SGCN are listed in Kentucky’s Wildlife Action Plan:

http://fw.ky.gov/kfwis/stwg/

Location:  Brief description (e.g. Calloway County, Kentucky).  Specify all Conservation Areas affected by proposed project. See map of conservation areas:

 http://fw.ky.gov/kfwis/stwg/Appendix/4.26%20All%20Taxon%20Tier%20I%20CAs.pdf

Timeframe:    Start Date:

End Date:

Projects may be 1 to 3 years in length. Projects coincide with state fiscal year which begins July 1 and ends June 30.  (e.g. an appropriate project duration would be July 1, 2009 – June 30, 2012).

Products and Deliverables:  What products and deliverables will result from this project? Be sure to quantify implementation activities (e.g. restoration of 120 acres of bottomland hardwood habitat).  Also specify whether proposed project will result in management recommendations to KDFWR.

Estimated Cost:

Total Project Cost: Sum of federal amount requested and non-federal match

Total Federal Amount: SWG funds requested; large-scale implementation projects are encouraged. Federal award amount ranged from $16,905 to $83,434 in 2007.

Total Non-Federal Match:  List the amount of non-federal matching funds as well as the source of the 50% non-federal matching funds.  Are these matching funds in-kind services, cash, equipment, supplies etc.? The following may be used as match: University overhead, time of investigators or volunteers, in kind contribution of materials or equipment, cost of software (e.g. statistical packages) necessary for projects, costs of conference attendance necessary to disseminate information to relevant audiences etc.
