Must obtain certification as a Telecommunicator by the Department of

employment and maintain this certification for the length of employment
in this classification.

Description of Vacancy's Duties : |
Dispatch work is performed in a stressful environment and successful
applicant may be required to work all three shifts as assigned, 7 days a
week, 365 days a year. |

Characteristics of the Class : |
Performs beginning level work in the transmission, receiving and
relaying of information for public safety and law enforcement related
activities. Learns to operate various types of telecommunications
equipment for dispatching agency personnel and communicating with other
law enforcement officials; and performs other duties as required. |

Typical Working Conditions and Unique Physical Requirements : |
Work is in a communications environment. Must be able to operate
keyboard and possess good communication skills. Must be able to speak
clearly and have good eyesight and hearing in order to operate
communications equipment and search N.C.I.C. and LINK information for
law enforcement personnel throughout the state. Works in a stressful
environment and may be required to work all three shifts as assigned, 7
days a week, 365 days a year. |
