If a person wants
to rehabilitate migratory birds, they must obtain and submit proof to the
Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife Resources (KDFWR) of a Federal
Rehabilitation Permit for migratory birds. They
can get an application online at www.fws.gov
or contact Ms. Resee Collins of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service at
404-679-7051. USFWS requires proof
of a Kentucky Rehabilitation Permit before a federal permit can be
issued. Therefore, KDFWR will issue
a Rehabilitation Permit, but it will be invalid until proof of a Federal
Rehabilitation Permit for migratory birds is submitted to KDFWR.
Ø
A person holding
a Wildlife Rehabilitation Permit cannot also hold a Captive Wildlife
Permit.
