Eligibility

Camp Webb is open to Kentucky students who are in grades 4 - 6 (as of April 1st) and not older than 13.

Camp Webb is co-educational. Boys and girls from the same county will attend camp during the same week. Cabins and counselors are assigned by gender.

Campers are fed breakfast, lunch, and dinner during their time at camp. Meals are prepared by three summer cooks. If your camper has any dietary restrictions, please provide them during the application process.

Summer Sessions and Transportation

Camp Webb operates for eight weeks (Beginning in June).

Campers are transported to camp by bus on Monday morning and return home on Friday. Campers are picked up and dropped off at a predetermined location in or near their home county. D KDFWR personnel arrange transportation through local school districts or a charter bus service. Transportation costs are included in the camper registration fee.

Camp Activities

Campers receive instruction at each activity and are encouraged to participate. If a camper does not wish to participate in a certain activity, they may abstain. However, if they abstain, they will not be eligible to earn the activity patch or the outdoorsman or outdoorswoman award. Firearm Safety, Archery, Nature, and Outdoor Survival activities will contain portions of the Kentucky Hunter Education Certification tests. Students who complete all portions successfully will earn their Hunter Education Card (aka Orange Card), which is a lifetime certification.

Campgrounds

Camp Webb has seven air-conditioned cabins, which house 24 to 32 campers under counselor supervision. In addition, there are staff quarters, 3 bathhouses (4 cabins have bathhouses attached), a kitchen and dining room, camp director’s office, sick bay/first aid station, and canteen. We also have a playground with a basketball court, sand volleyball court, and covered outdoor assembly area. Activity facilities include a nature lab, nature trail, rifle range, shotgun range, hunter safety field course, archery range, archery field course, lake swim dock, boat dock, fish dock, storage, and maintenance buildings.

The permanent staff consists of a camp director, conservation educators, camp superintendent, and maintenance staff. Summer staff includes counselor supervisors, counselors, summer educators, and cooks. All summer staff are screened before hiring. Counselors are trained to chaperone the campers and assist conservation educators and counselors with camper safety, instruction, and supervision. All permanent staff and summer staff are trained in American Red Cross Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED.
