Main Content
Pool 5 of the Green River is located near Brownsville, KY. This pool is about 14 miles in length with public boat ramps located on the upper, middle and lower sections of the pool. There are three major tributaries (Beaverdam Creek, Alexander Creek and Big Bear Creek) in this section of the Green River. This area is popular for largemouth bass, spotted bass, walleye, sauger, muskellunge, crappie and bluegill fishing. Boaters and anglers should use caution when boating or fishing above and below lock and dam structures.

Green River Pool 5 Public Access Site Descriptions
Brownsville City Ramp:

Located below Hwy 259 Bridge, this single lane concrete ramp is usable by all trailered watercraft. There is a paved parking lot, with security lights, for more than 25 vehicles. This ramp is located about 1.4 miles downstream of Lock and Dam #6. The water at this site is pooled up and has plenty of depth for operating gas motors, but beware of underwater obstructions.
Alexander Creek Ramp:

This access point has a single lane concrete ramp suitable by all trailered watercraft. There is a gravel parking area located at the top of the ramp. This ramp is located mid-pool between Lock and Dam #5 and #6 at the mouth of Alexander Creek. Bank fishing access is available at this location. This is a Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources stocking site.
Lock and Dam 5 Ramp:

This ramp is a single lane concrete ramp that is suitable for all trailered watercraft. This ramp is located across from the mouth of Bear Creek. Boaters should use caution, this ramp is located directly upstream of Lock and Dam 5. There is a gravel parking lot located at the top of the ramp that is suitable for less than 25 vehicles. Bank fishing access is also available at this location.
Bear Creek Ramp:

This ramp is a single lane concrete ramp that is suitable for all trailered watercraft. This ramp is located across from the mouth of Bear Creek. Boaters should use caution, this ramp is located directly upstream of Lock and Dam 5. There is a gravel parking lot located at the top of the ramp that is suitable for less than 25 vehicles. Bank fishing access is also available at this location.
