White Bass
Color is blue-gray to dark green on the back and silver-white on the sides
Several dark horizontal stripes along its sides
Two dorsal fins are separated
Adults grow to 18 inches
Yellow Bass
Often confused with white bass, but yellow bass are a brassy yellow color on the sides
Dark stripes that are broken and offset
Two dorsal fins are slightly connected
Adults grow to 12-15 inches
Striped Bass
More streamlined or torpedo shaped than the white bass or yellow bass
Olive green to blue-gray back and silver-white sides
Horizontal lines on the sides are more intense than the white bass
Adults weighing 5-20 lbs. are common, but may grow to over 50 lbs.
Hybrid Striped Bass
Can be distinguished from striped bass by having a deeper body that is more arched behind the head
Broken and poorly aligned stripes on the sides
Adults seldom grow larger than 15 lbs.
