Hunter's Legacy

The Hunter's Legacy Program fosters recruitment of new college aged hunters by developing opportunities for positive in the field experiences that include proper hunter ethics, responsibility, and safety demonstrated by dedicated sportsmen desiring to pass on the hunting legacy.

The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources currently hosts clinics, workshops, and mentored hunts with six different colleges and universities across Kentucky. Programs run from 1-3 days and all necessary equipment is provided.
 
 

Types of Programs

  • Hunter Safety Education Certification
  • Introduction to Hunting Equipment Clinics (Crossbows, Shotguns, Rifles, Archery, etc.)
  • Field to Fork workshops featuring deer and turkey
  • Mentored Hunts for a wide variety of game

How to Get Involved

  1. Get your college or university involved by contacting the state coordinator.
  2. Organize a workshop or clinic.
  3. Host a mentored hunt.
  4. Be a peer mentor in the field anad at the range.
