FRANKFORT, Ky. (Sept. 21, 2023) — To honor the fifth anniversary of the Kentucky Wild program, the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources is inviting the public to a celebration event on Saturday, Sept. 30 in Georgetown.

The event, scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (ET) at Country Boy Brewing’s taproom at 101 Innovation Way in Georgetown, will feature a songbird banding demonstration with agency biologists 9-10:30 a.m., a freshwater mussel filtration program at 11 a.m. and opportunities to speak with other program staff about statewide conservation projects and habitat management.

Staff from the Salato Wildlife Education Center will host a meet-and-greet with live wildlife, and native plants will be available for sale 10 a.m. until noon, while supplies last. Kentucky Wild partners and conservation organizations will be present to provide more information to the public.

Country Boy Brewing has sponsored the Kentucky Wild program since 2018.

Attendees ages 21 and older can try a special “Kentucky Wild Honey Ale” and receive a commemorative pint glass. Kentucky Wild staff will also sell brand new merchandise, including t-shirts, hats, beanies and stickers.

Kentucky Wild is a membership-based program that supports the conservation of Kentucky’s native species not hunted, fished or trapped.
