  • Adults grow to 18 inches

  • Often confused with white bass, but yellow bass are a brassy yellow color on the sides
  • Dark stripes that are broken and offset
  • Two dorsal fins are slightly connected
  • Adults grow to 12-15 inches

Striped Bass
 

Striped Bass

  • More streamlined or torpedo shaped than the white bass or yellow bass
  • Olive green to blue-gray back and silver-white sides
  • Horizontal lines on the sides are more intense than the white bass
  • Adults weighing 5-20 lbs. are common, but may grow to over 50 lbs.

Hybrid Striped Bass
 

Hybrid Striped Bass

  • Can be distinguished from striped bass by having a deeper body that is more arched behind the head
  • Broken and poorly aligned stripes on the sides
  • Adults seldom grow larger than 15 lbs.
