Kentucky conservation officer graduates from F.B.I. National Academy

FRANKFORT, Ky. (December 15, 2023) — Conservation Officer Lt. Jason Ice graduated as a member of the 288th session of the F.B.I. National Academy. The graduation took place at the National Academy in Quantico, Virginia Dec. 7, 2023. Nationally, fewer than one percent of peace officers have the opportunity to attend the program.

Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy provides ten weeks of advanced communication, leadership, and fitness training. To attend, participants must have proven records as professionals within their agencies. On average, these officers have 21 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to serve in executive-level positions.

Ice graduated from the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources Recruit Training Academy in 2010 and was assigned to the 3rd Law Enforcement District, working primarily in Bullitt County not far from his hometown of Coxs Creek. He was promoted to the Training Section Sergeant in 2020. Ice currently is the Lieutenant for the 6th Region.

The 288th session consisted of 198 men and women from 45 states and the District of Columbia. The class included members of law enforcement agencies from 24 countries, four military organizations, and six federal civilian organizations.

Kentucky’s conservation officers are sworn law enforcement officers with statewide jurisdiction. Conservation officers work to ensure compliance with hunting and fishing laws and help ensure the state’s waterways are a safe place for all to enjoy through education and enforcement.
