The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Louisville District, is proposing renovations at Buckhorn Lake (Perry and Leslie Counties) to the boat ramp and parking lot at the dam. This ramp is currently closed to all traffic and boating access and is projected to remain closed until at least February 2027. The USACE will replace the entire concrete ramp section between the summer pool and winter pool elevations (757 ft – 782 ft). The planned action will include a complete renovation of the parking area, boat approach and drive lanes.
During the interim, there will be no reliable boat access available at the lake, during winter pool conditions (any elevation below 770 ft). This timeframe generally includes the months of November-April, depending on water level management. Buckhorn Lake has four other ramps available for use during normal, summer pool elevations including launches at Gay’s Creek, the Marina, Leatherwood and Trace Branch. These access points are generally open for use from May 1 - October 31.
