Dewey Lake in Floyd County has been drawn down an additional two feet under normal winter pool to fight hydrilla. Terry's, Stratton, and the Marina ramps are not accessible during this time, but Goble Branch ramp is available for use. The draw down will last until Jan. 25 with a return to normal winter pool expected in March.
By dropping the lake an additional two feet, the hydrilla plant tubers will be exposed to freezing temperatures, killing the hydrilla. Hydrilla is an invasive aquatic plant that out-competes native plant species and affects navigation on the lake.
