The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources’ Wetland and Stream Mitigation Program (Fees-in-lieu-of-Mitigation, or “FILO” program) will be conducting subsurface soil testing with heavy equipment, treating non-native and invasive vegetation using all-terrain vehicles, and assessing streams and wetlands on Ross Creek WMA in Lee and Estill counties. The work is scheduled April 17-21 and is necessary for compliance with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permits and agreements. Visitors to the WMA may encounter department staff, project consultants and contractors, and experience some noise associated with project activity during this timeframe.
