A boat ramp at Dewey Lake in Floyd County will be closed temporarily for a project planned at the location.
Kentucky Fish and Wildlife will be replacing the boat ramp near Gobel Branch across from the Jenny Wiley State Resort Park campground.
Replacement of the ramp is necessary because a large hole has formed at the end of the existing ramp, creating a drop-off hazard for boat trailers. The project will eliminate the hole and provide a longer ramp.
The project was scheduled to start Jan. 4. Excessive rainfall the weekend before the scheduled start date raised the lake to more than 10 feet above winter pool as of Jan. 3. Work will start once the lake returns to winter pool elevation (645 feet). The lower water level will provide crews with the best and safest access to the lower portion of the existing ramp. Barring any delays, the project is expected to be finished in about three weeks.
We apologize for any inconvenience from this temporary closure.
