An Official Website of the Commonwealth of Kentucky
You’ve harvested a Canada goose for a special research project! This bird was equipped with a small light-level geolocator to help us track its migration to and from remote molting areas in Canada. This study will help us better understand when molt-migrating geese return to Kentucky, how their behavior may vary across the state, and whether adjustments to the fall hunting season could improve harvest opportunities and management.
Important
This project is specific to Kentucky, so the geotags must be reported to KDFWR officials using the link below. In return, you’ll receive a Certificate of Appreciation, and you’ll be able to keep the geotag after KDFWR staff retrieve the data from the device. Don’t forget – report the aluminum federal band www.ReportBand.gov to receive the official certificate for the band.
Thank you for contributing to waterfowl research and conservation in Kentucky!
