Pool 6 – Green River

Pool 6 of the Green River flows 120 miles from the Green River Lake Tailwaters downstream to Lock and Dam 6 near Brownsville, KY. This section of the river makes its way through several communities before it enters Mammoth Cave National Park. Pool 6 is well known for the scenic views, numerous springs and caves, and abundance of wildlife, making this section of the river a popular retreat for anglers and boaters.

A paved parking lot with security lights and a single-lane concrete ramp suitable for small john boats, canoes, and kayaks is available. Boats are not permitted upstream of the ramp according to posted ACOE signage. The first shoal is located below State Highway 55 Bridge, 0.25 mile downstream of the ramp. Plenty of quality bank fishing access is available directly below the dam downstream to the ramp. Picnic shelters, a playground, and restroom facilities are also present. This is the starting point of the Upper Green River Blue Water Trail.


Roachville Ford

This low-water gravel ford is located near the city of Roachville, KY, off State Highway 3098. This site is best suited for canoes, kayaks, and small john boats. This section of the river is relatively shallow with a good diversity of riffles, pools, and water willow beds. Boating at this site might require portaging during low-flow periods. Parking is along the side of the road approaching the ford and is limited.

Follow the gravel road down to a gravel bar, which provides excellent access for small john boats, canoes, and kayaks. This is a great place to put in and paddle back to American Legion Park in Greensburg, KY. This section of the river has some good shoals with several deep rocky pools. Parking is limited at this site along the gravel bar and roadside. No other amenities exist at this site.


American Legion Park Access

Access to the river is located on the drive to the left of the main gate of American Legion Park. A gravel and muddy bank is graded into the river below Highway 417 Bridge. There is plenty of unpaved parking at this site. This is the halfway point between Russell Ford and Greensburg City Ramp. This is a carry-down site suitable for small john boats, canoes, and kayaks. This site offers anglers a good diversity of habitat including shallow gravel shoals and deep rocky banks.

A concrete ramp suitable for small john boats, canoes, and kayaks is located at Greensburg City Park. There is a paved parking lot for about 5-10 vehicles. There are cabins for rent at the top of the hill and plenty of bank access for fishing and wading on the park property. This is the last stop on the Upper Green River Blue Water Trail.


Glenview Ford Access

The access site is located downstream of Greensburg, KY, off KY 88. Glenview Road ends in the water. There is an unpaved grassy parking area at the top of the launch site. This site is surrounded by private land, so please respect their property and obey posted signs. This site is suitable for small john boats, canoes, and kayaks. No bank fishing exists at this site due to steep banks and private property. There are no other amenities at this site.


Lynn Camp Creek Ramp

Access is at the mouth of Lynn Camp Creek near Lynn Camp Creek Bridge. This site is privately owned but open to the public; continuing access is dependent upon your behavior. Please pick up all trash. This site has plenty of unpaved parking with a paved concrete ramp to access the river. Use caution: this ramp is steep and better used as a carry-down site. There is also a limited amount of bank fishing available. No other amenities exist. This is the starting point of the Green River Blue Water Trail (Hart County).


H. H. Wilson Park Ramp / Johnson Spring

This site has a single-lane concrete ramp that is suitable for small trailered boats. There is a small gravel parking area with additional parking along the road. Be aware that the end of the ramp does not extend far into the water, and there is a drop at the end of the concrete. This site has several good shoals, long runs, and deep rocky banks. There are no other amenities at this site.


Stovall Park Ramp in Munfordville

Located in Stovall Park, this single-lane concrete ramp is suitable for small and light trailered boats. There is paved parking at the top of the ramp. Boaters should be aware that the end of the ramp does not extend far into the water and there is a drop at the end of the concrete. There are walking and hiking trails, soccer fields, covered pavilions, a children's playground, restrooms, security lights, primitive camping, and canoe rentals at the park. This site offers anglers a good opportunity to catch a diversity of fish. This is the last stop of the Green River Blue Water Trail (Hart County).


Dennison Ferry (Mammoth Cave National Park)

Located in Mammoth Cave National Park, this access site is a day-use area only. No camping is allowed. This area provides anglers with concrete steps to carry small boats down to the water. Picnic tables, park benches, fire rings, restrooms, and gravel parking areas are available. Bank fishing would be difficult at this location due to high muddy banks. Please follow all posted signs. This is the starting point of the Green River Blue Water Trail (Mammoth Cave National Park).

This site is usable by all trailered boats. When launching boats, be careful not to interrupt the operation of the ferry. All boats should be launched and loaded on the downstream side of the ferry. A paved parking lot is available at the top of the ramp, with boat trailer parking along the side of the road. There are picnic tables and hiking trails at the parking lot, and the Mammoth Cave Campground is located at the top of the hill. Security lights and an informational kiosk are located at the ferry.

This site is a canoe and kayak carry-down only. A paved parking lot is available at the top of the ramp. Security lights, restrooms, a picnic shelter, picnic tables, benches, and grills are available at this location. A riverside campground is also available for anglers.
