In some areas, Cope’s Gray Treefrogs and Bird-voiced Treefrogs can be found together in the same swampy woodlands, and they sometimes interbreed. We call these offspring “Hickman Hybrids” because we first saw this happening at Obion Creek Wildlife Management Area in Hickman County. We have found these hybrids in Hickman, Carlisle, Graves, Marshall, and Henderson counties. The voice of a Hickman Hybrid is a long mellow rolling trill that sounds very similar to an Eastern Gray Treefrog.
