​Hook and Cook is a workshop that provides anglers of all skill sets with the knowledge they need to improve their fishing and safely eat what they catch.​​​

The workshop is composed of classroom and field portions. During the field portion, participants practice filleting fishing and the new fishing skills they learned with the assistants of an instructor!

Each participant must be 16 years of age or older and have a valid Kentucky fishing license. You can purchase a valid license here: License Sales Application.​

Hook and Cook​​ - Elizabethtown, KY (Three-Part Series) 

Learn the basics of fishing, including rod and reel setup, fish cleaning and how to cook fish. This class will be held at the Hardin County Cooperative Extension Office. Please Note:​ Participants should plan to attend at least two of the three sessions.

Hook and Cook​​ - Georgetown, KY (Two-Part Series) 

This course will teach you the basics of catching and cleaning fish. Whether you are an ​experienced angler or a first-time fisherman, this course will teach you the skills and knowledge you need to get started in fishing.

Fly Fishing 101 - Fort Campbell, KY

Join us and learn the basics of fly-fishing, including rod and reel setups, casting, fly types, basic gear, and knot tying. Attendees will have the opportunity to join a mentored fly-fishing trip on Little West Fork. This class is free to attend, but a Fort Campbell Permit is Required

Hook and Cook​​ - Brownsville, KY (Three-Part Series) 

Learn the basics of fishing, including rod and reel setup and fish cleaning. This class is held at the Edmonson County Public Library. Fishing will be at James D. Beville Park.

Kayak Fishing​ 101​ - Frankfort, KY (Three-Part Series) 

  • Date: August 8, 15 & 17, 2024, 6:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m. (Eastern)

Learn the basics of fishing, including rod and reel setup, knot tying, and how to cast! The second class will be about the basics of kayaking and kayak safety. Join us to demo some boats and learn to fish! By attending this class you get the opportunity to join us for a guided float trip with Canoe KY on August 17th
