Hook and Cook is a workshop that provides anglers of all skill levels with the knowledge they need to improve their fishing and safely eat what they catch.
Hook and Cook workshops cover:
The workshop is composed of classroom and field portions. During the field portion, participants practice filleting fish and the new fishing skills they learned with the assistance of an instructor.
Each participant must be 16 years of age or older and have a valid Kentucky fishing license. You can purchase a valid license here: Kentucky fishing license sales application.

Please note:This event is primarily for women 16 and older. A valid fishing license is required to participate in the mentored fishing trip.
Join us and learn the basics of fly-fishing, including rod and reel setups, casting, fly types, basic gear, and knot tying. Attendees will have the opportunity to join a mentored fly-fishing trip. This class is free to attend, but you must have a valid Kentucky fishing license. All equipment is provided. This class is offered in partnership with Derby City Fly Fishers and The Parklands of Floyds Fork.
Trout Fishing 101 - (Two-Part Series)
Learn the basics of trout fishing, including equipment, techniques, and locations. Participants will be offered two dates to select from to attend a mentored trout fishing trip to Hatchery Creek.
Hook and Cook - Burlington, KY
This course will teach you the basics of catching and cleaning fish. Whether you are an experienced angler or a first-time fisherman, this course will teach you the skills and knowledge you need to get started in fishing.
Fishing Night - Buckley Wildlife Sanctuary
Occasional fishing helps our pond and fish population stay healthy, but it is only permitted at our fishing nights. All Experience levels and ages are welcome, but kids under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Poles, bait, and assistance will be provided by the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife. Please Note: Fishing licenses are required for participants 16 and older.
Hook and Cook - Elizabethtown, KY
This course will teach you the basics of catching and cleaning fish. Whether you are an experienced angler or a first-time fisherman, this course will teach you the skills and knowledge you need to get started in fishing. The afternoon will be the fishing portion of the class. KDFWR will provide all the equipment and bait so participants can test out the newly acquired fishing skills. This will be held at Freeman Park.
Here is your chance to learn the basics of kayak fishing, including rod and reel setup, knot tying, how to cast, kayak safety, how to paddle, and where to fish. The Afternoon portion will be kayak fishing at Beaver Lake in Anderson County.
Please note: All equipment will be provided, you are welcome to bring your own fishing rod, life jacket, paddle and kayak if you have them. Must have a valid fishing license.
Pack the following: Lunch (way to keep cold), clothing/shoes that can get wet, plenty of water, and sunscreen.

Our Field to Fork programs are unique, start-to-finish workshops that teach adult participants everything they need to know to successfully hunt a specific game species. Our current offerings include dove, squirrel, spring turkey, and deer hunting workshops.
