WILDLIFE HEALTH NOTICE: New World Screwworm Detection in Texas (June 5, 2026)

​New World Screwworm (NWS) has been confirmed in Zavala County, Texas. This is the first detection of NWS in United States since northward progression from Central America was began in 2023. The affected animal is a 3-week-old calf and larvae were identified in its umbilical area. No suspect cases have been reported in Kentucky.​...
